Stationery, Washi Tape

Mudder Washi Masking Tape Collection

Since getting into bullet journaling I’ve been looking for different ways to decorate the pages because I find that I don’t always have the time to draw or decorate the pages in advance. I usually like minimal and clean designs but thought using washi tapes would be a easy way to add some color and interest.

  • Dimensions: 15mm width x 10 meters length

These washi tapes are not ideal for most crafts, if you plan on sticking them on surfaces other than paper. Maybe because they are actually “masking tapes” and do not adhere well to most surfaces. But they are great for bullet journaling or using on cards and papers because it is easily removable if you make a mistake, without damaging the paper.

However, I’m not sure if they were great for the purpose of just bullet journaling either. I find that I use them more for decorating the page but the material of the washi tape makes it hard to write on. Even with a silver sharpie, the marker ink did not stay on the tape without smudging. From what I envisioned, I thought I would be able to write on the washi tapes and it would look like a title heading or “highlighted”. Or I would be able to use these to cover up any mistakes in the bullet journal. But they were slightly transparent due to the white parts and only the matte gold works okay for covering up mistakes.

Final Thoughts

Washi tapes are definitely easy to use and adds some fun to the page if you don’t have the time to draw but would still like to add some customization to your bullet journal or cards. Next time, I’m going to try and get some washi tapes that are solid colors if I want to write on them. And maybe ones with less transparency so it can be used to cover up mistakes in the bullet journal.
